Custom portrait commission - Sublime Cravings Illustration

Let me draw you, or a loved one, in my illustration style. My approach to creating custom illustrations is that it’s not just about drawing a likeness, it’s about capturing your vibe. For each and every portrait I draw, I aim to create something beautiful and unique, just like you.

Custom portraits make a great one-of-a-kind keepsake or gift. It’s a way to capture a special moment, like a graduation or anniversary. Also, it’s a lovely alternative to the standard head shot. Imagine using a beautiful illustration of you as an avatar image for your social media accounts and the image on your “About” page on your website.

Or you could just get a custom illustration simply because you’d like to have one. Because honestly you don’t need a specific reason or occasion to commission a custom portrait of yourself, or a loved one.

Oscars 2019: Constance Wu in Versace

Current Cravings

There were so many gorgeous looks on this year’s Oscars red carpet, but I couldn’t help draw Constance Wu in this lovely Versace gown. The stunning yellow off-the-shoulder tulle dress was accessorized with a Swarovski bracelet and earrings.

Sublime Cravings Illustration - Marc Jacobs Fall 2019

There were so many covet worthy pieces in Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2019 collection, but Adut Akech in this yellow gown was definitely a highlight of the runway show. The model was nothing short of stunning in an off-the-shoulder tiered taffeta gown, which was paired with a beanie decorated with feathers.

Grammys 2019: Lady Gaga in Céline

Current Cravings

At this year’s Grammys, Lady Gaga embodied 80’s rock and roll glam in a metallic Céline strapless dress. Her silver sequined dress featured a thigh-high slit and a sculptural ruffle detail on one side of the gown. She was definitely one of my favorite looks from this year’s Grammys.

Runway Look: Givenchy Couture Spring 2019

Current Cravings

Typically when I think of latex, I don’t think haute couture. However, in Givenchy’s latest couture collection, Clare Waight Keller moved beyond preconceived notions of latex to create pieces that were intricate, luxe and thoroughly modern. This particular look mixes lace, pearls and latex. It’s a combination I would have never expected to work, but I must admit this particular incarnation is divine.

Red Leopard Dress: Stand Out, Don’t Blend In

Current Cravings

Red Leopard Dress - Stand Out Don't Blend In - Sublime Cravings

As you can see from my latest illustration, my preoccupation with animal print continues.

When you think of the color palette associated with traditional animal prints, usually earth tone shades come to mind. Which makes sense, because these prints are inspired by animal markings that serve as camouflage in their natural environment. And although my love for traditional animal prints endures, I can’t get enough of all the great dresses, shoes, pants (and so much more) that feature animal prints in bold attention grabbing colors. Case in point, this divine red leopard dress. Wearing an animal print in a bold color is all about standing out, not blending in.

Don’t Let Them Tame You

Current Cravings

Sublime Cravings Illustration - Mixed Animal Prints

Confession… I can be pretty awkward. So when I see other women leaning into their awkwardness, uniqueness and wonderful quirks, it gives me so much joy.

I say forget fitting in and making yourself “small” in the face of intimidation. Forget making yourself small with the hope that no one will discover you’re weird.

Don’t let them tame you!

Claim your uniqueness. Claim your voice. Claim your space in this world.

Runway Look: Tom Ford Spring 2019

Current Cravings

Tom Ford’s Spring 2019 show featured looks that were a drastic departure from the bold and bright animal prints that were the centerpiece of his Fall 2018 collection. This illustration features two of my favorite looks from the show: a leopard print jacket paired with a silk fringe skirt and a black caped gown belted with a faux croc corset. The mix of animal prints with luxe fabrics and textures, all in a paired down color palette, creates looks that are undeniably sophisticated and sexy. And that’s the aesthetic that we come to expect from Tom Ford.
