Grammys 2023: Cardi B in Gaurav Gupta

Current Cravings

Hands down, my favorite look from this year’s Grammys red carpet was Cardi B in Gaurav Gupta Couture 2023. This stunning cobalt blue gown, with sculpted three-dimensional forms framing Cardi’s arms and head, functions as both an art piece and fashion.

By the way, I am working on an illustrated e magazine. The magazine is my visual love letter to all of the divine and craveable fashion, beauty and decor trends that inspire me. The magazine will include: (1) high-fashion, concept driven editorial illustrations; (2) illustrated style guides; (3) illustrations featuring fresh-off-the-runway trends; and (4) profiles on fashion muses, past and present.

Interested in getting an issue of the e magazine when it drops this spring? Sign up for my email list so you know when it’s available for purchase.

One more thing… you can support this project by supporting me on Patreon. On Patreon, I provide my supporters with behind-the-scenes access by sharing sketches and some sneak peeks at illustrations I’m currently working on. Also, depending on the membership level selected, at least once a month I share the process (from sketch to completed illustration) that led to the final version of an illustration that will appear in the magazine. Runway Look: Dior Haute Couture Fall 2018

Current Cravings

Dior Haute Couture Fall 2018 - Sublime Cravings Illustration

I’m enamored with the direction that Maria Grazia Chiuri has taken Dior since she took the helm at the fashion house. This latest collection featured an array of ethereal chiffon and Chantilly lace dresses in nude and blush tones. Soft, beautiful and refined, the Dior Haute Couture Fall 2018 dress in this illustration features sunray pleated chiffon in the palest shade of pink. Dainty drop earrings embellished with colorful but delicate animal figurines lend a whimsical touch to the whole look.

Met Gala 2018: Jennifer Lopez in Balmain

Current Cravings

Strong, bold and sexy. Jennifer Lopez was nothing short of divine in this Balmain dress, which was custom made to fit the “Heavenly Bodies” theme of this year’s Met Gala. The dress was embroidered with jewels and featured an ostrich feather train and a thigh high slit.

Oscars 2018: Zendaya in Giambattista Valli Couture

Current Cravings

Zendaya in Giambattista Valli Couture is easily my favorite red carpet look from this year’s Oscars. This sumptuous one-shoulder dress features layers of draped chocolate brown chiffon. A shimmery brown smokey eye and elegant top knot complete the look. The overall effect is elegant and regal.

Runway Look: Giambattista Valli Couture Fall 2017

Current Cravings

At the Giambattista Valli Couture Fall 2017 show it was all about ruby lips and fancy frocks. There were so many divine dresses in this collection, but I decided to focus on 2 dresses for this illustration. I started with this lovely gown in a delicate shade of pink, with a bodice embellished with dainty bows and flower petals. The second runway look in this illustration features a deep wine-colored draped silk chiffon floor-length gown accessorized with vintage jewelry. I’m sure we’ll be seeing several dresses from this collection on the red carpet in the months to come.

Oscars 2017: Hailee Steinfeld in Ralph and Russo

Current Cravings

Stunning from head to toe, Hailee Steinfeld wore one of my favorite looks from the Oscars red carpet. I’m certain that the reason I like her overall look is because I am enamored by looks that epitomize an ethereal and edgy aesthetic. Taken alone, this Ralph and Russo dress, which features folds of translucent fabric covered in hand painted flowers, is gorgeous. I love that her styling team opted to leave the dress sheer, rather than line it. The sheerness keeps the dress from being too saccharine, in my opinion. In addition to the sheerness of the dress, a smoky eye and an almost sculptural updo gives the overall look a bit more edge. The result is an ethereal vibe that doesn’t risk resembling a fairy princess costume. Nothing short of styling alchemy.
