Runway Look: Marc Jacobs Fall 2019

Sublime Cravings Illustration - Marc Jacobs Fall 2019

There were so many covet worthy pieces in Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2019 collection, but Adut Akech in this yellow gown was definitely a highlight of the runway show. The model was nothing short of stunning in an off-the-shoulder tiered taffeta gown, which was paired with a beanie decorated with feathers.

Runway Look: Givenchy Couture Spring 2019

Current Cravings

Typically when I think of latex, I don’t think haute couture. However, in Givenchy’s latest couture collection, Clare Waight Keller moved beyond preconceived notions of latex to create pieces that were intricate, luxe and thoroughly modern. This particular look mixes lace, pearls and latex. It’s a combination I would have never expected to work, but I must admit this particular incarnation is divine.

Runway Look: Dior Haute Couture Fall 2018

Current Cravings

Dior Haute Couture Fall 2018 - Sublime Cravings Illustration

I’m enamored with the direction that Maria Grazia Chiuri has taken Dior since she took the helm at the fashion house. This latest collection featured an array of ethereal chiffon and Chantilly lace dresses in nude and blush tones. Soft, beautiful and refined, the Dior Haute Couture Fall 2018 dress in this illustration features sunray pleated chiffon in the palest shade of pink. Dainty drop earrings embellished with colorful but delicate animal figurines lend a whimsical touch to the whole look.

Runway Look: Giambattista Valli Couture Fall 2017

Current Cravings

At the Giambattista Valli Couture Fall 2017 show it was all about ruby lips and fancy frocks. There were so many divine dresses in this collection, but I decided to focus on 2 dresses for this illustration. I started with this lovely gown in a delicate shade of pink, with a bodice embellished with dainty bows and flower petals. The second runway look in this illustration features a deep wine-colored draped silk chiffon floor-length gown accessorized with vintage jewelry. I’m sure we’ll be seeing several dresses from this collection on the red carpet in the months to come.

Runway Look: Lanvin Fall 2017

Current Cravings

Taken as a whole, Lanvin’s Fall 2017 collection featured a mix of menswear influenced pieces paired with very soft and feminine elements. Some of the individual looks, however, were ultra feminine with little to no menswear influenced elements. This particular illustration features a look that combines several elements that are quintessentially feminine. Cascading ruffles in dusty pink and lace couldn’t be any more soft and delicate, but still manage to convey a sophisticated vibe.

Runway Look: Giambattista Valli Couture Spring 2017

Current Cravings

Giambattista Valli’s couture shows usually end with a series of voluminous and decadent tiered tulle gowns, and his Spring 2017 Couture show was no exception. And because I’m a dessert first, then dinner type of person, I couldn’t wait to see the ball gown confections that comprise the finale of the runway show. Don’t get me wrong, the show was filled with lovely pieces that I definitely want to illustrate, but I had to draw this exquisite tulle ball gown first.

Runway Look: Jason Wu Spring 2017 Ready to Wear

Current Cravings

Hope you’re not sick of the “off-the-shoulder” trend, because at NYFW there was an abundance of collections that featured designs with exposed shoulders. I’m not over the “off-the-shoulder” trend yet, but I’m a bit annoyed by the overuse of the term “cold-shoulder” in blog posts and articles that feature the trend. Of course if I could come up with a clever, but not overused, term to talk about this trend, I would have used it in this post—so who am I to criticize!

At any rate, I love these 2 shoulder-baring looks from Jason Wu’s Spring 2017 Ready-to-Wear collection. I’m a fan of Jason Wu’s structured, sophisticated and feminine designs. And as with most of his collections, there are always so many looks that speak to how I want to dress.

Runway Look: Sachin and Babi Spring 2017 Ready to Wear

Current Cravings

Sachin and Babi’s Spring 2017 Ready to Wear collection features ballet inspired dresses that are not only beautiful, but extremely wearable. Elegant yet effortless, the collection is filled with dresses that are floaty and graceful, yet not overdone. Combining elements like tulle, ruffles, and lace can easily take a dress in an opulent, over-the-top direction. The pieces in this collection, however, manage to evoke an airy but polished vibe.

Runway Look: Christian Dior Couture Fall 2016

Current Cravings

I loved the silhouettes used in the Christian Dior Couture Fall 2016 collection. And the black and white palette, with touches of gold and silver, allowed the silhouettes to take center stage. This show was billed as a modern take on the New Look (full skirts, tiny waists, and billowing fabric) that Christian Dior introduced in his debut collection.

This off-the-shoulder halter dress with gold embroidery was one of my favorite looks from the collection. The overall vibe of the collection was modern, chic, and feminine, yet effortless.

Runway Look: Atelier Versace Couture Fall 2016

Current Cravings

Atelier Versace Couture Fall 2016 - Sublime Cravings
These 2 pieces from from the Fall 2016 Atelier Versace Couture show are the epitome of what I like to call “ladylike with an edge.” I’m not sure which one I love more, the blush gown with the asymmetrical peplum, or the black gown with intricate folds that comprise it’s bodice. Definitely glamorous with an attitude.
