Runway Look: Giambattista Valli Couture Spring 2017

Current Cravings

Giambattista Valli’s couture shows usually end with a series of voluminous and decadent tiered tulle gowns, and his Spring 2017 Couture show was no exception. And because I’m a dessert first, then dinner type of person, I couldn’t wait to see the ball gown confections that comprise the finale of the runway show. Don’t get me wrong, the show was filled with lovely pieces that I definitely want to illustrate, but I had to draw this exquisite tulle ball gown first.

Golden Globes 2017: Emma Stone in Valentino

Current Cravings

There were so many divine looks on the Golden Globes red carpet this year, so I had to draw another one (you can see the first one, featuring Lily Collins, here). Emma Stone looked amazing in this Valentino pale pink gown adorned with stars.

Below is my first attempt at creating an animated piece. I’ve been wanting to play with animation, and the celestial vibe of this gown inspired me to give it a try.

Runway Look: Christian Dior Couture Fall 2016

Current Cravings

I loved the silhouettes used in the Christian Dior Couture Fall 2016 collection. And the black and white palette, with touches of gold and silver, allowed the silhouettes to take center stage. This show was billed as a modern take on the New Look (full skirts, tiny waists, and billowing fabric) that Christian Dior introduced in his debut collection.

This off-the-shoulder halter dress with gold embroidery was one of my favorite looks from the collection. The overall vibe of the collection was modern, chic, and feminine, yet effortless.

Runway Look: Atelier Versace Couture Fall 2016

Atelier Versace Couture Fall 2016 - Sublime Cravings
These 2 pieces from from the Fall 2016 Atelier Versace Couture show are the epitome of what I like to call “ladylike with an edge.” I’m not sure which one I love more, the blush gown with the asymmetrical peplum, or the black gown with intricate folds that comprise it’s bodice. Definitely glamorous with an attitude.

Runway Look: Alexandre Vauthier Couture Spring 2016

Current Cravings

Sublime Cravings- Alexandre Vauthier Couture

I adore the Parisian bombshell vibe that pervaded the Alexandre Vauthier Couture show. Over-the-knee boots and silk cargo pants paired with military styled coats managed to feel strong and sexy, but not contrived. And those Ray-Ban aviator specs-I want some of those immediately!

Twirling in Tulle: Giambattista Valli Couture Spring 2016

Current Cravings

Sublime Cravings - Giambattista Valli Couture Spring 2016
How can you stop yourself from twirling in a gown made of tiered tulle ruffles? Impossible, right?

One of my favorite elements of every Giambattista Valli Couture show are the floaty tulle tiered gowns that appear at the end of the show. The red gown was definitely a show stopper.

Sublime Cravings Fashion Illustration Prints Now Available

I’ve been wanting to sell prints of my illustrations for the longest time, so I’m thrilled to announce that I am now selling fine art quality prints on my newly opened Etsy shop.

For me the quality of a print is everything, so I’m selling Giclee prints. Giclee is a fine art digital printing process that combines pigment based inks with high quality heavy weight paper. The result is beautiful print with saturated color and sharp rendering of details.

Honestly, I think my illustrations look so much better on a print, rather than on a computer monitor or a mobile device. So if the idea of my art on your walls is appealing, please stop by my Etsy shop. By the way, I will be adding more illustrations to my Etsy shop of the course of the next few months.

Glam Fairy: Atelier Versace Couture Fall 2015

Current Cravings

The Atelier Versace Couture Fall 2015 collection was ethereal and downright sexy.   Although Versace is known for a bold sexy aesthetic, this collection was more glam fairy than edgy vixen. The dresses were floaty and light, but featured strategic skin baring cutouts-because it is Versace after all.

Unapologetically Feminine: Giambattista Valli Couture Spring 2015

Current Cravings

The backstage photos of the models in the Giambattista Valli Spring 2015 Couture Show were so fun and gorgeous, so I created this drawing inspired by the photos. I adore the veils with bows and polka dots, because they are unapologetically feminine and playful.

Jewels and Feathers: Chanel Couture Fall 2014

Current Cravings, Portfolio

Chanel-Feathers and Sequins

For me, the allure of drawing couture is the opportunity to render intricate details and bold design elements. So you can imagine that when I saw this dress from Chanel’s 2014 Fall Couture collection, I immediately started thinking of the perfect pose for the dress. I wanted a pose that would fit the vibe of the dress while showing off my favorite design elements of the dress, the feathers and the bold jewel encrusted pattern.
