Dwellings: Serenity Now

Current Cravings, Dwellings

In this noisy world, we all need a place of refuge. We require a place to slow down and quiet the distractions of the outside world, but first… be sure to silence your phone.

By the way, here’s my illustration that I based this quick animation on.

Runway Look: Givenchy Couture Spring 2020

Current Cravings

Beautiful, dramatic, sculptural and romantic. Nothing says haute couture like face framing over-sized ruffles studded with pearls. It’s a pleasure to watch Claire Waight Keller explore her design aesthetic at Givenchy.

Virtus Bags: Versace Fall 2019

Current Cravings

Virtus bags - Versace Fall 2019 - Sublime Cravings Illustration

Here’s my illustration for the latest DrawADot. open call, which celebrates the launch of Versace Virtus bag. For the open call, illustrators were asked to make Virtus bags the focus of the illustration. We were encouraged to be creative and use Versace’s fall 2019 collection for inspo. Because the collection was all about Donatella’s take on 90s grunge (think grunge elements but with the quintessential Versace elements of bold colors, patterns, bondage harnesses, and oversized safety pins), I decided to do a modern take on the Versace ad campaigns of the 90’s.

Lust Worthy: Snakeskin Print Over-The-Knee Boots

Current Cravings

This is the final piece in a series of 3 illustrations featuring mixed animal prints. Over-the-knee animal print boots are such a bold statement piece, so I was determined to create an illustration that highlights the unapologetic vibe of the boots. Honestly, I feel that featuring these lust worthy snakeskin print over-the-knee boots in the final illustration was the best way to end the series on a high note. And of course I just had to double down on animal prints by pairing the boots with a leopard print dress.

Red Leopard Dress: Stand Out, Don’t Blend In

Current Cravings

Red Leopard Dress - Stand Out Don't Blend In - Sublime Cravings

As you can see from my latest illustration, my preoccupation with animal print continues.

When you think of the color palette associated with traditional animal prints, usually earth tone shades come to mind. Which makes sense, because these prints are inspired by animal markings that serve as camouflage in their natural environment. And although my love for traditional animal prints endures, I can’t get enough of all the great dresses, shoes, pants (and so much more) that feature animal prints in bold attention grabbing colors. Case in point, this divine red leopard dress. Wearing an animal print in a bold color is all about standing out, not blending in.

Don’t Let Them Tame You

Current Cravings

Sublime Cravings Illustration - Mixed Animal Prints

Confession… I can be pretty awkward. So when I see other women leaning into their awkwardness, uniqueness and wonderful quirks, it gives me so much joy.

I say forget fitting in and making yourself “small” in the face of intimidation. Forget making yourself small with the hope that no one will discover you’re weird.

Don’t let them tame you!

Claim your uniqueness. Claim your voice. Claim your space in this world.

Late Summer Blooms - Sublime Cravings Illustration

Savoring the last days of summer in a field of seemingly endless sunflowers. This illustration features 3 of my summer favs: sunflowers, this lovely self-portrait polka dot ruffle one-shoulder top and Adam Selman x Le Specs The Last Lolita cat eye sunnies.

As summer gives way to fall, remember to stand tall and find the sunlight.

Luxe in Paradise: Valentino Resort 2019

Current Cravings

Luxe in Paradise - Sublime Cravings Illustration

There’s something so timeless and effortlessly glam about donning a lovely patterned scarf and pairing it with statement sunnies and earrings. In fact every look in Valentino’s 2019 Resort Collection featured head-scarfs, sunnies and large earrings. This illustration features a flowing maxi sundress, over-sized sunnies, a beautiful headscarf and hoop earrings. I decided to add lush foliage and a frosty drink to create a tropical and carefree vibe.

Just Bloom

Current Cravings

“A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms.” -Sensei Ogui

From time to time, we all need a little reminder to stop comparing ourselves to others and just bloom.
