Runway Look: Marc Jacobs Fall 2019

Sublime Cravings Illustration - Marc Jacobs Fall 2019

There were so many covet worthy pieces in Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2019 collection, but Adut Akech in this yellow gown was definitely a highlight of the runway show. The model was nothing short of stunning in an off-the-shoulder tiered taffeta gown, which was paired with a beanie decorated with feathers.

Runway Look: Tom Ford Spring 2019

Current Cravings

Tom Ford’s Spring 2019 show featured looks that were a drastic departure from the bold and bright animal prints that were the centerpiece of his Fall 2018 collection. This illustration features two of my favorite looks from the show: a leopard print jacket paired with a silk fringe skirt and a black caped gown belted with a faux croc corset. The mix of animal prints with luxe fabrics and textures, all in a paired down color palette, creates looks that are undeniably sophisticated and sexy. And that’s the aesthetic that we come to expect from Tom Ford.

Whether in pale pink silk or bold pink velvet, these blazers make a statement. I love these 2 looks from Tom Ford’s Spring 2018 runway show. The key to the sophistication of these looks is the contrast of textures and colors. For instance sumptuous silk is paired with chain mail in the look on the left, and it is paired with velvet in the look on the right. Also, blush tone pieces provide a perfect contrast for the strategic pops of color from the velvet blazer and cap-toe pumps.

Runway Look: Jason Wu Spring 2017 Ready to Wear

Current Cravings

Hope you’re not sick of the “off-the-shoulder” trend, because at NYFW there was an abundance of collections that featured designs with exposed shoulders. I’m not over the “off-the-shoulder” trend yet, but I’m a bit annoyed by the overuse of the term “cold-shoulder” in blog posts and articles that feature the trend. Of course if I could come up with a clever, but not overused, term to talk about this trend, I would have used it in this post—so who am I to criticize!

At any rate, I love these 2 shoulder-baring looks from Jason Wu’s Spring 2017 Ready-to-Wear collection. I’m a fan of Jason Wu’s structured, sophisticated and feminine designs. And as with most of his collections, there are always so many looks that speak to how I want to dress.

Runway Look: Sachin and Babi Spring 2017 Ready to Wear

Current Cravings

Sachin and Babi’s Spring 2017 Ready to Wear collection features ballet inspired dresses that are not only beautiful, but extremely wearable. Elegant yet effortless, the collection is filled with dresses that are floaty and graceful, yet not overdone. Combining elements like tulle, ruffles, and lace can easily take a dress in an opulent, over-the-top direction. The pieces in this collection, however, manage to evoke an airy but polished vibe.

Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner in DVF Fall 2016

Current Cravings

The look at Diane Von Furstenberg’s Fall 2016 presentation was all about red manicures, smokey eyes, and 70’s inspired party frocks. Modeling a black and white slip dress and a slinky jumpsuit, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner embodied that quintessential disco party glam feel that no one does better than DVF.

Lace and Silk - Givenchy - Sublime Cravings
Several Spring 2016 RTW collections featured lingerie inspired looks, but one of my favorite collections – by far – was Givenchy. Black lace and silk is about as lux as it gets. Although I don’t usually associate black lace and silk with spring, I’m certain that I’ll be searching for a lingerie inspired black lace and silk dress this spring. Are you a fan of lingerie inspired clothes?

Runway Look: Jason Wu Spring 2016

Refined and sexy, it was all about ruffles and glamour at Jason Wu’s Spring 2016 show. One of my favorite looks from the collection is the beautiful coral pink ruffled cocktail dress on the left. Which look from Jason Wu is your favorite?

By the way, I’ve noticed that when I draw runway looks from Jason Wu’s collections I can’t seem to draw just one (see my illustration of 3 looks from his Fall 2015 collection).

Feminine and Whimsical: Kate Spade Spring 2016

Current Cravings

There were so many lovely and covetable pieces at yesterday’s Kate Spade show. I’m certain, however, this pink dress with a large bow was a favorite for those who adore the whimsical and feminine aesthetic Kate Spade is known for. And of course I had to include the super cute carousel inspired bag in this illustration!

Runway Look: Jason Wu Fall 2015

Current Cravings

Jason Wu’s Fall 2015 Collection was lux, elegant, and sexy. My absolute favorite look from the collection was the cashmere coat paired with a olive crocodile skirt (maybe not crocodile, but embossed leather). Which look from Jason Wu’s Fall 2015 was your favorite?
