Runway Look: Tom Ford Spring 2019

Current Cravings

Tom Ford’s Spring 2019 show featured looks that were a drastic departure from the bold and bright animal prints that were the centerpiece of his Fall 2018 collection. This illustration features two of my favorite looks from the show: a leopard print jacket paired with a silk fringe skirt and a black caped gown belted with a faux croc corset. The mix of animal prints with luxe fabrics and textures, all in a paired down color palette, creates looks that are undeniably sophisticated and sexy. And that’s the aesthetic that we come to expect from Tom Ford.

Late Summer Blooms - Sublime Cravings Illustration

Savoring the last days of summer in a field of seemingly endless sunflowers. This illustration features 3 of my summer favs: sunflowers, this lovely self-portrait polka dot ruffle one-shoulder top and Adam Selman x Le Specs The Last Lolita cat eye sunnies.

As summer gives way to fall, remember to stand tall and find the sunlight.

Luxe in Paradise: Valentino Resort 2019

Current Cravings

Luxe in Paradise - Sublime Cravings Illustration

There’s something so timeless and effortlessly glam about donning a lovely patterned scarf and pairing it with statement sunnies and earrings. In fact every look in Valentino’s 2019 Resort Collection featured head-scarfs, sunnies and large earrings. This illustration features a flowing maxi sundress, over-sized sunnies, a beautiful headscarf and hoop earrings. I decided to add lush foliage and a frosty drink to create a tropical and carefree vibe.

Runway Look: Johanna Ortiz Fall 2018

Current Cravings

Although it’s from Johanna Ortiz’s Fall 2018 collection, this dress is the epitome of sultry and sophisticated summer vibes. This bold red flowing dress, belted by a sumptuous over-sized tropical flower, embodies the aesthetic I can’t wait to play with this summer. That aesthetic is sultry, feminine and apologetic.

Met Gala 2018: Jennifer Lopez in Balmain

Current Cravings

Strong, bold and sexy. Jennifer Lopez was nothing short of divine in this Balmain dress, which was custom made to fit the “Heavenly Bodies” theme of this year’s Met Gala. The dress was embroidered with jewels and featured an ostrich feather train and a thigh high slit.

Zendaya in Giambattista Valli Couture is easily my favorite red carpet look from this year’s Oscars. This sumptuous one-shoulder dress features layers of draped chocolate brown chiffon. A shimmery brown smokey eye and elegant top knot complete the look. The overall effect is elegant and regal.

Alice + Olivia Fall 2018 - Sublime Cravings Illustration

Currently craving every single piece from these two looks from Alice + Olivia’s Fall 2018 collection.

Plaid, buffalo check, and zebra print … it’s all about the mix of patterns. Oh and I’ve realized how much I need a leather trumpet skirt in my life.

Runway Look: Fendi Spring 2018

Current Cravings

This look from Fendi’s Spring 2018 collection pairs stripes with plaid and a logo print.

Pattern mixing is not for the timid. And for good reason. Done not so well, it can look like you got dressed in the dark. Done well, it can produce a look that is playful, confident and sophisticated.

Are you a fan of pattern mixing?

Let it Snow: My Take on Vintage Christmas Card Illustrations

Current Cravings

Let it Snow! Off to spread some Christmas cheer in a Miu Miu (faux) fur hat and cozy coat.

Merry Christmas! Here’s the last piece in my series of drawings inspired by vintage Christmas card illustrations.

For my take on vintage Christmas card illustrations, I used pieces from Miu Miu’s Fall 2017 collection in the drawings and as inspiration for the overall palette for the series. I think the retro silhouettes and the bright happy colors featured in Miu Miu’s collection are a perfect fit for a modern take on vintage Christmas card illustrations.

There are countless vintage Christmas cards that feature a well dressed woman holding presents while walking a dog. It’s arguably one of the more common themes illustrated on vintage cards. I feel like my series of vintage card inspired illustrations would be incomplete without a drawing of a woman walking her dog in the snow on Christmas. Usually the breeds featured on Christmas cards are poodles and Scottish terriers. But for this illustration I went with my personal favorite, a shih tzu. But not just any shih tzu, I included my fur baby Stelio in the drawing.

Sublime Cravings - Fashion Illustration Christmas Card

What’s more festive than (faux) fur shoes embellished with sparkly buckles? Off to holiday parties, dressed in head to toe Miu Miu with piles of gifts in hand.

This is the second in my series of Christmas themed illustrations featuring pieces from Miu Miu’s Fall 2017 collection.

The illustrations on vintage Christmas cards inspired the vibe of the drawings in this series. I think the retro silhouettes and the bright happy colors featured in Miu Miu’s collection are a perfect fit for a modern take on vintage Christmas card illustrations.

By the way, I will be posting the last illustration in this series in a few days.
